Old Barn Farms farmhouse opens for business for the first time.
Local records show that Old Barn Farm was at the heart of a thriving farming community in 1640. Old Barn Cottage was the original Fiddler Hall and dates back to before the 'Dissolution of the Monasteries' in 1536 having strong connections with both Furness Abbey and Cartmel Priory. Old Barn Farm remained a 1,000+ acre working farm until the mid 1970's when it was sold and the farmhouse became a bed and breakfast.
After two successful years we decided to convert the barn and in 2006 planning permission was secured to turn it into two self catering properties which opened on 1st July 2007. The Hayloft, The Mistal and Old Barn Cottage have all achieved 4 stars with Visit Britain Gold Awards.
